Ever wondered why some gate remotes can be copied in minutes while others must be registered to the barrier? It comes down to how the remote’s code works.
A fixed-code remote sends the same signal every time. That makes it simple and quick to clone onto a spare — but also slightly less secure, since a captured signal could be reused.
A rolling-code remote changes its code with every press, using a synchronised sequence shared with the receiver. It’s far more secure, but usually can’t be simply cloned — the new remote must be registered to the barrier.
You often can’t tell just by looking. Send us a photo of your remote and the barrier brand and we’ll confirm whether it can be cloned or needs registering.
